ABOUT US

Our Vision:

To be a society where all people in Appalachia are valued for who we are; where all are called to be disciples for Jesus Christ; and where all have the opportunity to realize our God-created spiritual, social and economic potential.

 

 

Our Goals:

  • To provide education and training for local church leaders, lay and clergy, in an Appalachian context. (Focus Area:  Developing Leaders and Revitalization)

  • To provide education and awareness for advocacy on issues that impact Appalachia.  (Focus Area:  Health Care)

  • To support ministry that addresses systemic causes of poverty in Appalachia.  (Focus Area:  Eradicating Poverty)

  • Develop a communication strategy.


Our Members:

Our membership is comprised of representatives from the College of Bishops from the North Central, Northeastern and Southeastern Jurisdictions; representatives of bishops whose episcopal areas are within the region; representatives of conference United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, regional mission personnel, grassroots church-based projects, General Agencies (Board of Global Ministries, Church and Society, Discipleship, Higher Education, and Ministry); and members at large.
